August is Wider Mission Month
A Great Success.
Many thanks to all who made our Wider Mission BBQ and Campfire such a success. The attendance was good, the venue superb, the food and the entertainment first class. Everyone enjoyed themselves and $1400 was raised for our Mission Project “Climate Action: – Fresh Water Tanks for Kiribati”. A huge thank you to Michael and Lee for all they did to prepare for the event and provide such a lovely location. Special thanks too for the generous donation from a church family that covered the cost of the food for the night. For those who still want to give a donation to help us reach our target of $2500 envelopes are available in the porch and can be received until the end of the month. Whatever we are able to do will be greatly appreciated by our partners in the Pacific region.
Garage Sale and Fete
We will have a meeting after worship (11.00am) this week (21st August) to start to shape up the details of the Garage Sale and Fete for this year. All those wanting to help put this together are encouraged to attend and contribute.
Children’s Garden Group
Church council is pleased to support, encourage and endorse the efforts of the Children’s Garden Group in its work to both develop the garden at the front of our property and build partnerships with our members and other community groups and individuals. It’s exciting to see responses from the children, parents and leaders from Play and Stay and the wider community to how things are growing in that area. Interesting plans are currently being made for further development. Talk with Bruce and Joy Stewart for more information. Well done.
Friday, 19th August 10 am – Myal Ensemble Entertainment at the Church, followed by Soup & Sandwiches.
We are looking for some folk who wish to serve their church by assisting in cleaning our church facility. The intention is to use contract cleaners for the three toilets and kitchen area. We hope to have enough volunteers to make up a roster and commence soon. Please contact Sharyn 8336 9905 or email firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you to those who have expressed interest recently.
Uniting Communities – Cans of Food
Soup, Baked Beans, Casserole type meals, etc. are very welcome! These are delivered to Uniting Communities each week. Thank you to all who are donating! We have received a letter of thanks for the continued support of this organization. Please see the letter on the notice board. The can count is now 377.
On Sunday September 4th we will be focusing on our giving as a church. This Sunday (21st) we will be asking members to consider their financial contributions to the life of this church in preparation for this day.
