Sunday 23rd September 2018
Greetings and welcome to this week’s newsletter
Dear AUC family,
Thank you for your participation in the same gender marriage survey. We have appreciated hearing from so many people and have been thankful that all responses shared have been loving, respectful and honouring of the faith you each have in Christ. We sought your response as a way to assist Church Council to discern whether same-gender marriages will be allowed to occur on the AUC property. Now that we have heard from you, Church Council will continue to pray over and consider your feedback as we move forward. Whilst the majority of respondents are in support of holding same-gender marriages on the AUC property, we are very mindful that not everyone shares this opinion. Church Council will meet together on the 16th of October to discuss this further. If an agreement is reached, we hope to be able to share this with you on Sunday the 20th of October.
Blessings in Christ,
Victoria Pederick, on behalf of the Athelstone Uniting Church Council
Sunday 23 October – 6pm
Prayer Walk – meet as usual in the Rezz carpark and head off for a walk. There won’t be a ‘leader’ as such.
As you walk, remember that the Holy Spirit is there among you, leading you in what to pray. Be thankful for the beauty of the place.
Sunday 30 October – 6pm
Chill Night – a small lowkey gathering for those who are available. Meet at the ‘usual’ table at The Rezz for dinner and debrief what’s been happening on Sunday nights in recent weeks. Thanks The Rezz staff for their wonderful hospitality.
September – Operation Christmas Child month!
Now is the time to start packing those shoeboxes.
If you can’t put together a box, all donations whether goods or money are welcome.
Remember that we need to cover the cost of the box and a $10 fee for handling.
Every little bit helps and together we can be successful. Blessings to you all, Friederike
ToFs will be meeting on Tuesday October 2nd at the church from 2pm
We will be making up shoe boxes with gifts and goodies as suggested in the displays at church.
Please bring along items to be distributed amongst the boxes. We’ll enjoy a cuppa and chat as usual.
All welcome, Ros and Jenny
Threads
The next meeting of our fledging “Threads” is on Tuesday 4th October at 3.00pm the venue is still to be decided, but please put this date in your diary. The survey did not conclusively show a preference for days and times and it may be that we have a “changeable” group so we can include everyone interested. Sharyn

Spring Fair – 3rd November – 8am–1pm
We hope you have found some items to donate to the Spring Fair which is looming quickly. With the exception of large furniture items, good saleable items are required. This includes toys, books, giftware, glass and crockery items, kitchen ware, puzzles, games, manchester, clothes, artworks, DVD’s etc . It is planned that the shed will be open every Sunday morning from 30th September – 9.15-9.30am for convenient drop off.
To ensure that everything is ready to go for our Spring Fair, there will be a short meeting on
Sunday, 7th October after church at around 11am.
Everyone is welcome and if you have been involved in setting up and organising stalls previously, we certainly depend on your help again. Please put this date in your diary. Let’s look forward to our Spring Fair and
I encourage everyone to get involved in some way. For all enquiries, please see Di Curtis (0419-862-606)

We will finish the term with a FULL HOUSE, and no respite in sight for Term 4! We continue to have inquiries from new families and would appreciate more adult helpers on the already active team. A Stitch In Time
We have had a request from a Stay and Play parent to purchase a smock and a library bag. If there is anyone who likes sewing and would like to make several smocks or library bags, we could offer them to parents for a small cost perhaps as a fundraiser. Contact Joy Stewart if you are interested in this task.
