Stay & Play
Thank you to the whole team for your efforts at Stay and Play. I hear we have a very capable coordinator in Eliza, a furniture removalist in Geoff, a snack and story reader in Jennie, an excited tea lady waiting for a new baby in Crisi and a couple of great parent chatterers in Deb and Leanne. Well done all, especially with a new Mum and more grandparents visiting as well. Have fun at Stay and Play. Hope you ar not inundated with TOO many new families!!. You are all an Amazing Team!!! Joy & Bruce
Mission Planning
Part of Geoff’s role this year is to work with us to develop our sense of identity and purpose. To this end we are forming a team of people and designing a process through which we can together consider and contribute our thoughts and hopes for our church. We believe that as we share this work together we will discover where God is leading us and how we can shape our life to follow that call. It’s time for us all to think and pray about what we want to contribute.
Special meeting of the Congregation
Church Council, together with the Chairperson of our Congregation, have called for a special meeting of the congregation on the 5th June 2016. This meeting will occur at the end of worship before the closing blessing and hymn. The purpose of the meeting is to consider revisions that Church Council intends to make to the current 2016 budget. The revised budget is available with an explanation of why we wish to move in this direction. Questions and suggestions are most welcome before the meeting. We would like to receive questions well before if possible. You can email you comments to church.council@athelstonechurch.org.au Church Council
News from travelers
Hello Everyone Last Sunday Pastor Paul Glazbrook, from Frontier services, and a friend dropped in to say “hello”. He is organising a team of volunteers to do some work out here at the station later in the year. We had a bit of a chat over lunch sharing our role her and his connection with the family. He was only here fleetingly as this patrol was 15 days and he needed to keep moving. Cheers! Joy & Bruce

Fundraising Dinner to Help Egyptian Asylum Seeker Legal Costs
We have another fantastic evening in store just for you, with an array of food, music as well as a presentation on the Coptic religion, culture and the human rights challenges they face in Egypt. The event is being organised by the newly formed Circle of Hope (Circle 114), one of the many local refugee asylum seeker and support groups operating as part of the Circle of Friends Association of Australia. They are not allowed to work but still have to meet high legal fees so we are holding another event. So come join us on Saturday the 28th of May for another Egyptian Coptic Banquet.
$40 per head CircleOfHope114@gmail.com Call Rebecca on 0402 716 960. Saturday, 28 May 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM (ACST) Hopes Café – Clayton Wesley Uniting Church 2 Union St Beulah Park
Packing Day
The countdown is on to this whole church event. It all starts straight after morning worship on Sunday 5th June and we hope to have it all done by late afternoon on Tuesday 7th. I am seeking more volunteers throughout the three days, but in particular on Sunday and all day on Tuesday. A special morning tea is on offer on Tuesday if that provides the encouragement/coercion/bribe you need to come along. Please let me know of your availability before Sunday the 5th. I have received calls from several city and country churches to let me know they are delivering quantities of good to us, so the more helpers we have, the easier the work load on everyone. I look forward to hearing from you (and a big thank you to those who have already volunteered and are helping behind the scenes).
