Newsletter for 2nd April 2017

Sunday 2nd April 2017

Geoff our minister is on sick leave at present.   We wish him well and pray for a speedy recovery.
Lent Event Week 5  –  “Jesus the Table Turner“
Teaching people how to tackle stark injustice is key to overcoming poverty. Uniting World is supporting the Church of North India to help people take a stand. Where children are excluded from school, or where there aren’t enough teachers they are training community workers to educate families about their rights, get their children into schools and lobby for trained teachers.   Where water supplies aren’t correctly installed they are organising people to politely but firmly insist that these are properly serviced by local government.
Let us pray for the Church of North India as they continue their ministry to help the most vulnerable and marginalised.
When we give to Lent Event we are supporting long-term change in India, not short-term handouts.
Sunday Evening Service
Sunday 6.00pm service is currently having a short break and will recommence on Sunday 30th April.

Church Council Update
WOW…Three months into 2017 and lots have been happening at Church Council.
We have discussed a great number of matters including:
Ø  30 January:    Election of Office Bearers and review of the Church Profile
Ø  21 February:  Review of plans for the year and adoption of the concept of portfolios to allocate and tackle particular aspects of our life as a church
Ø  21 March:      Addressed a range of administrative and financial matters. Gave support for the Wider Mission Program, Packing Day and Christmas Tree Festival in 2017.
There has been considerable work by individuals and groups to facilitate church activities so far this year.
A heartfelt thanks to Geoff and Sharyn – also a huge thank you to all those who carry out the weekly/monthly tasks that underpin the church activities.
In the coming months Church Council is keen to continue on with the progress that has been made with our Mission Priorities.   Importantly we all will need to look at the Churches revenue and expenditure areas to ensure we are able to do what we as a congregation feel called to do.
Please speak to the Church Council members if you require further information about anything, want to make comment on current activities or have suggestions of new matters to be considered.
As we go into Easter may we reflect upon the message of the Cross and be renewed on our Christian journey.
