Sunday 11th November 2018
Greetings and welcome to this week’s newsletter
A Note from Linda
This Sunday is Remembrance Day, which will commemorate 100 years since fighting seized in World War One. In our morning service we will take time to remember those who lost their lives in war.
It fits well with our theme for the month of Extravagant Generosity. There is no greater act of generosity than sacrificing one’s life for others.
Our evening service will be ‘Messy Church’ which commences at 4pm. The theme is ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Soul’ and we’ll be exploring how God can help us live life to the fullest. This is a service for all ages, so come along and bring your children and grandchildren!
Sunday Evenings this month
18 Nov: Spirited Sunday at 6.30pm
25 Nov: Prayer Walk at Sophia – Cross Road Cumberland Park @ 5.15pm – Walking the newly constructed labyrinth in the beautiful gardens of the Sophia Spirituality Centre – then meet at the Rezz for dinner around 7.00pm
Spirited Sunday – November 18 (6.30pm for 7.00pm)
Our next Spirited Sunday is coming up next week with speaker David Hutton on the topic Sport, Life & Faith. David has an extensive background in sport, both as a footballer and as an Administrator. He played 160 SANFL League games for Port Adelaide between 1985 and 1995, including 5 Premierships, moving into Football Administration/Management after retiring in 1995, and is now currently the CEO or Rowing SA. So come along and enjoy a great evening out in the community while hearing about David’s experiences on and off the sporting field.

Threads – This will continue meeting at the Athelstone Coffee Shop every 2nd and 4th Thursday from 2.30 pm. Messy church invites you to come along this Sunday to just “sit and do” 4.00-6.00pm at the church.
Heartfelt thanks again to everyone for your help with the Spring Fair last week. It was a great team effort, a lot of fun (and hard work) but most important, the opportunity to share and connect with the local community – our church in action. Thankfully we were blessed with good weather, and it was a great atmosphere with everyone enjoying the stalls, food and activities. In addition we raised $7,618.65 for our church and current projects. All left over goods will be donated to the Lyell McEwan Hospital for use in their 4 Op shops.
All your support is wonderfully appreciated. Di & Trev Curtis
I had the privilege and blessing to deliver your 57 boxes to the processing centre this evening (Wednesday). It was buzzing with energy! I got to see what all the little jobs on the production line are and also saw the booklets and training manual for “The Greatest Journey”. Very inspiring.
I learned that the first container had already been dispatched to Papua New Guinea while our boxes will be in the next container heading off to Cambodia. Thanks to you all from Lynette and also from Heather Jessope (the state coordinator).Perhaps next year some of us could go as a group and help. Friederike
Please notify the office of any changes to your contact details in our printed Directory, we would like to have an up to date version available at the Congregation AGM on November 25th. Thank you to all those who sent photos of church activities to be inserted in the AGM Reports. Sharyn
