A Note from Linda

Greetings!   This week we are continuing our series on The Journey of Worship. We have been watching short videos presented by Malcolm Gordon, who is a songwriter, liturgist, theologian, and writer from New Zealand.  On Tuesday, I asked Malcolm about the church in the background of the videos.  He says it is the old chapel at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Howick, East Auckland.
Our focus for 9.30am will be Adoration – that time in our gathered worship when we give our thanks and praise to God. At 6.00pm we will start the series and look at the Call to Worship.
I hope you will join us, as we praise God with the faithful of every time and place, joining with choirs of angels and the whole of creation!

Looking ahead:   Next week, Dean Pearce will bring us the Word, with a focus on Confession. (This will be my rostered Sunday off.)
Then, on October 29th we’ll doing things a little different, being the 5th Sunday of the month.  The Church will be set up ‘café-style’, we’ll have a guest speaker (Ann Phillips) and we’ll have some interactive prayer stations.   I hope you will come ready to try something a little different as we continue to explore The Journey of Worship together.

Did you know?  Each Sunday there is an opportunity to get to know fellow members of our church community, with informal gatherings after Church.  If you’d like to join in, head to Caffe Di Crema or The Rezz after the morning service, or The Rezz after the evening service. Are there other gatherings?   Please let me know!

Blessings,  Linda

Operation Christmas Child 2017

I am pleased to announce that we have once again had a very successful response to the shoeboxes. Members of the congregation have put together 52 boxes with love.  Those that could not, for whatever reason, have contributed $500 towards the cost of the boxes, postage, packing and shipping the containers to wherever they are going. Thank you all.
Last Sunday we had a lovely visit from Lynette Beck who told us a little about the journey of the box and hopefully we can arrange to hear more at a later date.   Friederike

Roster Additions   –  2018

Hi all, thank you to all those who have been volunteering on the church roster.  Your contribution has been greatly appreciated.   There are a number of areas which could do with more volunteers.  Please consider carefully if you can help in this way. This gives you the opportunity to offer the gifts and skills that God has given you – and it helps to share the load.  They are:-

Flowers :-           We could do with more people.

Pastoral Care :- There are only two people on this roster at the moment and we could do with more.

Sound Roster :- We have three people on this roster at the moment and could do with more.  Requires alertness and candidate will be initially supervised by Noel Maywald.

Building Steward :-         There are four people on this roster at the moment and we could do with more.  This requires staying till everyone else has gone (making sure that lights are out and locking up), and we think it should now include the need to coordinate the set up and packing away of chairs to allow clearance for church use during the week.

Communion Stewards:-   At the moment we have eleven people involved, which is great, but more would be even better. As you know the communion is held on the second Sunday of each month generally, and it is better having four helpers each month.

Well folks hopefully you can see yourself helping somewhere in one or more of the roster areas.  We’ll provide training and encouragement to help you settle in to the role.
