Sunday 21st October 2018
Greetings and welcome to this week’s newsletter
A Note from Linda
The word for the week, as we continue our focus on Prayer, is Silence.
In the Taizé daily devotion this week, brother Roger wrote: “The essence of prayer never changes, it can take on a host of different expressions. There are people who pray in great silence. Others may need words. Saint Theresa of Avila wrote, ‘When I speak to the Lord, often I do not know what I am saying.’ Others find heaven’s joy on earth, a fulfillment, in prayer together with other people.” Join us as we consider why silence is an important part of prayer.
The next Spirited Sunday is on this week (Sunday, 21st October) at The Rezz. Arrive and order food around 6.30 with guest speaker from around 7pm. The speaker will be Matthew Barker. Matthew will be telling short stories and playing music on his Ukulele, all inspired by the clients he works with in aged care. You’ll find it funny, sad, poignant and challenging! Come along and bring a friend.
Next Sunday morning our guest preacher will be Rev Andrew Robertson.
Please note that I am taking a week of Annual Leave this week, starting Monday. I’ll be back on Tuesday the 30th (October).
Blessings, Linda
