Sunday 28th August 2016

Since the Intentional Interim Ministry of Rev Geoff Hurst at Athelstone UC has been underway for nearly 6 months, it is time for us all to evaluate this season.  Members of the congregation are still able to participate in this evaluation.  You may choose to have a phone conversation (with Wendy Perkins 0408 896 220 or Rev Philip Gardner 0409 077 076 of the Pastoral Relations and Mission Planning Team) or to make an electronic submission via the following link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AthelstoneIIM.  The Team welcomes all submissions to this important process, as well as your prayers for discernment and wisdom. Please note that anonymous surveys will not be included in our reporting.
 
August is Wider Mission Month
Thanks for your support – Thanks to all who have given to our Fresh Water for Kiribati Appeal. To date $2436 has been received towards our target figure of $2500. Donations close at the end of August.
Native Orchids for sale  –  Brian will have a few native orchids for sale after church this Sunday morning. Some are flowering others about to flower.(colours: yellow,pink, white and pale mauve).  Proceeds to our Wider Mission appeal.
 

Garage Sale and Fete

The date for this event is Saturday 5th November.   Start to sort out those cupboards and book shelves and more details soon.
 

Children’s Garden Group

Church council is pleased to support, encourage and endorse the efforts of the Children’s Garden Group in its work to both develop the garden at the front of our property and build partnerships with our members and other community groups and individuals. It’s exciting to see responses from the children, parents and leaders from Play and Stay and the wider community to how things are growing in that area. Interesting plans are currently being made for further development. Talk with Bruce and Joy Stewart for more information.
 
Friendship Club
Friday, 26th August  commencing at 10 am – Physiotherapist Anthony Guiducci will visit bringing a variety of therapy cushions and explain the differences and benefits of using them.
 
Tofs  will be meeting again on Tuesday Sept 6th at2pm at the church. An interesting speaker will be our focus this month as we sip our coffees. Watch this space for more information next week.
 

Cleaning Roster

We are looking for some folk who wish to serve their church by assisting in cleaning our church facility.  The intention is to use contract cleaners for the three toilets and kitchen area.  We hope to have enough volunteers to make up a roster and commence soon.  Please contact Sharyn 8336 9905 or email office@athelstonechurch.org.au  Thank you to those who have expressed interest recently.
 

Uniting Communities – Cans of Food

Soup, Baked Beans, Casserole type meals, etc. are very welcome!  These are delivered to Uniting Communities each week.  Thank you to all who are donating!  We have received a letter of thanks for the continued support of this organization.  Please see the letter on the notice board.  The can count is now 403.
 

Giving Sunday

On Sunday September 4th we will be focusing on our giving as a church. We ask members to consider their financial contributions to the life of this church in preparation for this day.
