Greetings! Here is this week’s news..
A Note from Linda
Are you one of those people who can clearly see God at work in your everyday life? One of those who is aware of God’s presence, even in the most mundane things of life? Yesterday, I was reminded of a friend who is like that. She speaks openly and often (to anyone who will listen) about how God has blessed her, sustained her and protected her in good times and bad. And she does it in such a way that others get caught up in her joy. It is people like this who encourage the rest of us in our faith and set an example of how we can openly worship God throughout the week. If you are one of those people, keep doing what you do! We need you! And if you know someone like that, please let them know how important their gift of faith is in building us all up. “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thess 5:11;16-18)
Speaking of worship… we are well into our Journey of Worship. Thank you to Dean for bringing the Message last week. I hear reports that both Nola and Dean were wonderful and shared some uplifting and new thoughts about Confession.
This week the focus is on Assurance: “In Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!” Being the 5th Sunday of the month, we are doing things a little different. You’ll find the Church set up ‘café-style’ and we’ll have a guest speaker (Ann Phillips). Come, ready to try something a little different!
Did you know? Every two weeks we have a small and enthusiastic book club who meets at Indigo Espresso Café across the road. We are beginning a new book: “Soulstice: The Journeys and Seasons of the Soul” by Sharonne Price. Would you like to join us? Our next meeting is on Tuesday 31 October at 9.30am and we have one copy of the book available for $27.70. Please contact me if you have any questions. Blessings, Linda
Spring Fair –
Heartfelt thanks to everyone for your help with the Spring Fair last week. It was a great team effort, a lot of fun (and hard work) but most importantly a great opportunity to connect with our friends, neighbours and local community. The weather was beautiful and there was a real buzz with everyone enjoying all the food, stalls and activities. In addition we raised around $7000 for our church and current projects. All left over goods have been picked up by Lyall McEwan Hospital for use in their 4 Op shops. Thanks to Trev for organising that. All your support is wonderfully appreciated. Dianne Curtis (on behalf of Church Council)

Please consider carefully if you can help in any of the following areas. Flowers, Pastoral Care, Sound Roster, Building Steward, Communion Steward.. This gives you the opportunity to offer the gifts and skills that God has given you – and it helps to share the load. We’ll provide training and encouragement to help you settle in to the role. Note from Jan
I would like to thank everyone for the prayers, good wishes and many telephone calls, emails etc. The operation went well on Wednesday, and when I saw the eye specialist yesterday he was happy with the result. Have to see him again next Thursday when he will remove some stitches. My vision is still very blurry, but that is normal and will take a bit of time to come good. Blessings to you all, Jan
Important !!! Upgrade on alarm system
Please note that following an upgrade to our alarm system in the entry foyer, there is an extra step to take when arming or disarming the alarm. After entering your alarm code, you will need to then press the corresponding button next to “ Disarm” or “ Arm” on the display as appropriate. It appears that some folk have not had their codes or keys recorded in our master file following the update of our key register in 2016 … if you have any problems please speak to Paul Howland or Sharyn.
