A Note from Linda!
Greetings! As you may know, one of our key mission areas is to continue to foster vibrant and engaging worship.
One way that we are approaching this is by learning more about worship together in our Sunday services. Last week we looked at definitions of worship. Here is one example:
Worship is the act of honouring God with a feeling of deep respect tinged with awe.
What do you think? Do you agree? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. 😊
This week we will begin listening then reflecting on short teaching video clips from a DVD called “The Journey of Worship”. The presenter is Malcolm Gordon who is a songwriter, liturgist, theologian, and writer from New Zealand. I’m sure you will really enjoy Malcolm’s inspiring teaching! This Sunday we start with the Call to worship.
When there is a 5th Sunday in the month, we are going to do things a little different in our Sunday services. The next 5th Sunday is October the 29th. The Church will be set up ‘café-style’, we’ll have a guest speaker (Ann Phillips) and we’ll have some interactive prayer stations. I hope you will come ready to try something a little different as we continue to explore The Journey of Worship together.
With Love to the World
We have two copies of this daily devotion left. They are available for free. Help yourself to a copy on the table in the entry foyer.
Upgrade on alarm system
Please note that following an upgrade to our alarm system, there is an extra step to take when arming or disarming the alarm. After entering your alarm code, you will need to then press the button next to Disarm or Arm on the display as appropriate.
Sunday evening news
Our Sunday evening services are an informal time of worship open to all. We meet in the Chapel from 6pm.
This Sunday evening at 6pm, we’ll have a Sounds of Silence style service. Linda will lead a reflection prepared for us by Matt Barker.
Sunday October 15: We’ll begin The Journey of Worship series. Come, join us!
Mike O’Connell – Bougainville
On Sunday October 15th I am heading to Bougainville to catch up with Mike. I thought he may appreciate some contact from some of you and as he has no email or internet access and snail mail is highly unreliable, if any one would like to send him a note please send me an email firstname.lastname@example.org
and I can then print it out and deliver it to him. Thanks and Blessings, Lee
Shoe Boxes of Love
Thank you all for your contributions so far. It has been overwhelming. We still have a few weeks to go, but if you could possibly have your completed shoeboxes back to the church by Sunday October 8th. We will have a special blessing for them to see them on their way on that day. Friederike 0458078839
I am on leave from Thursday 28th September until Tuesday 17th October. My husband Fred and I are taking a belated 50th Wedding anniversary trip to Victora. On my return the office will be open for the above Tuesday and Wednesday 18th October but not the Thursday 19th as Linda and I will be at the Global Leadership Summit Conference, then back to normal the following week. Roster Additions – 2018
Hi all, thank you too all those who have been volunteering on the church roster. Your contribution has been greatly appreciated.
There are a number of areas which could do with more volunteers. Please consider carefully if you can help in this way. This gives you the opportunity to offer the gifts and skills that God has given you – and it helps to share the load.
Flowers :- We could do with more people.
Pastoral Care :- There are only two people on this roster at the moment and we could do with more.
Sound Roster :- We have three people on this roster at the moment and could do with more. Requires alertness and candidate will be initially supervised by Noel Maywald.
Building Steward :- There are four people on this roster at the moment and we could do with more. This requires staying till everyone else has gone (making sure that lights are out and locking up), and we think it should now include the need to coordinate the set up and packing away of chairs to allow clearance for church use during the week.
Communion Stewards:- At the moment we have eleven people involved, which is great, but more would be even better. As you know the communion is held on the second Sunday of each month generally, and it is better having four helpers each month.
Well folks hopefully you can see yourself helping somewhere in one or more of the roster areas. We’ll provide training and encouragement to help you settle in to the role.
