Rev. Do Young Kim
Minister, Athelstone Uniting Church
Rev. Do Young Kim serves as the minister at Athelstone Uniting Church. Originally from Korea, he has been in ordained ministry for over a decade and has called Australia home since 2004.
His faith journey began at an early age and was significantly shaped during his university studies in Christian Education in Korea. Sensing a clear call to ministry, he moved to Australia to pursue theological and pastoral training as a Candidate at United Theological College (UTC). He was ordained in 2014 through the Korean Presbytery in NSW/ACT and later relocated to South Australia to serve the community at Athelstone from 2024.
Do Young has served at Adelaide Korean Church, Payneham Road UC, and Prospect Road UC, and is now serving at Athelstone UC.
His ministry has been enriched by the diverse experiences of migration, cultural transition, and the rhythms of everyday life. These experiences have deepened his belief in what he often describes as “the slow but faithful God”—a God who moves with quiet purpose, weaving grace into ordinary moments, and inviting us to see the world through divine eyes.
At Athelstone UC, he is passionate about leading meaningful worship, fostering a healthy and loving church community, and helping people encounter God in ways that transform and restore. He is particularly devoted to children’s ministry, raising up leaders, and proclaiming the gospel as a source of hope, healing, and renewal.
Beyond the church, he finds joy in spending time with his wife Dana (Daeun) and their two daughters. He enjoys writing with fountain pens, cooking, traveling, and playing golf. He treasures the practice of observing the world—not in haste, but with the calm, compassionate gaze he believes mirrors the heart of God.
